Fujitsu unveiled a next-generation tablet at last month’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that allows you to feel different textures on the screen. This “haptic touchscreen” emits ultrasonic vibrations that simulate rough, smooth, and slippery textures.

While the current functionality of this product is somewhat limited (for example, the tablet must lay perfectly flat and recognizes only one touch point), it is easy to see how this technology could change the game in out of home advertising. Can you imagine a touchscreen experience that’s not only sound and picture, but texture as well?
