These past few years have seen amazing strides in mood-sensing technology. Recently,a study was released demonstrating how software that utilizes XBOX Kinect cameras was able to read body language in autistic children with striking accuracy. The system was nearly as accurate in reading emotions as human volunteers (61.3% vs. 61.9%). Similar technology has also been making its way into the retail space, as Russian company Synqera recently installed tablets in stores that can read a consumer’s mood, age, and gender and deliver custom ads at the checkout counter.
This technology makes a ton of sense in the Out of Home Advertising space, as brands are constantly trying to target consumers on a personal level. Mood-sensing is a huge step in the right direction for a better consumer experience.
